Socialized Health Care

So I haven't been able to post anything for a while due to two things:

1 - I've been busy figuring out my financial situation with my wife.
2 - I didn't care to post anything.

One heave topic in news article here in Utah is the fact that healthcare companies (pharmaceutical companies, doctors, insurance companies, etc.) told Obama that they would decrease health care almost $2 trillion over the next few years to get socialized health care underway.

Hey, that's great for people that don't have health care! Not being sarcastic, but I think everyone should have the opportunity to receive equal health care treatments. However, I feel everyone should pay for them out of their own pocket like I do. No offense to people that don't have benefits offered to them at their job, but that's life. There are state programs to help people pay for insurance premiums and other things when health insurance is not affordable. Is socialized health care really necessary?

Let's look at some observations (not facts, observations). I spent time in Canada where socialized health care dominates the American wannabes (take that Canada!). How it worked was money was taken out from taxes of each worker to provide healthcare to everyone. If that person needed to go to the hospital there was no co-pay because their taxes were going toward that expense already. That's a nice feature right? Well, those same people had to wait up to 1 year before they were allowed surgery (again, observation not documented fact). One acquaintence had a dark spot in her heart that was presumed to be a hole. She was told to return in 9 months and it would be observed even more. Awesome! 9 months later she could be diagnosed.

Again, I think it's a good thing for everyone to have health care, however, socialistic views that turn into Communism run by our power hungry government officials is not the answer. Ask any doctor and they'll tell you the government will tell them what to charge for services, how many services they can do in a certain period of time, etc. What happens when healthcare professionals don't get the money they want? They quit, and nobody else goes into that field. Let's be honest, how many people get their MD to "help people?" Hardly any. Those are the ones that donate their time and don't have mansions or multiplce sports cars in their driveway.

Why would socialized health care actually benefit most people? The working class will be taxed the same amount they are paying for healthcare each month to cover these expenses, yet others will take advantage of the system that will eventually be dragged down even worse than it is. I won't be saving any money; in fact, it might cost more out of my pocket for this whole thing. I don't want to be selfish, but come on! Having those that work to take care of yet another thing (in addition to welfare, medicare, medicaid, etc.) so that others not working can laugh in our face and say, "Here's something else I don't have to do so that I can get something for nothing." If the government wants to give out socialized healthcare EVERYONE needs to contribute in one way or another. No more freeloaders; Obama loves to give to those freeloaders.

(Addition) I read an article after I wrote this blog on yahoo.com saying that Medicare funds will be depleted soon. If we have socialized healthcare isn't Medicare basically obsolete? Someone explain that to me why we would care because we're moving into a Communistic government anyway.

This will almost certainly ruin our health care system. Everything I have heard from people that have experienced a socialized health care system has been bad. Right now our hospitals are among the most advanced in the world.

Look at U.S.S.R. (Russia when it was communist in case I remembered that wrong), I watched a documentary, and there were doctors and physicians that were selling booze and cigarettes on street corners because they could make more money doing that than they could providing medial care.

Agreed. Socialism failed because it led to Communism and failed for many reasons, and it won't work here either. Read Animal Farm if you haven't already. It's a great satire about how leadership and control slowly takes over, only really benefiting those in charge.
